YOUNG LONDON Permissive Paradise a photo book from 1969

This is a stunning 1960's London counterculture photography book.

Photographs by Frank Habicht, "Views on the scene" by Heather Cremonsei and Robert Bruce.

The book is a documentary series that documents the swinging 60s in London's Carnaby Street, King's Road, Kensington Church Street and Portobello Road featuring musicians and hippies.

The Rolling Stones's Mick Jagger and Brian Jones, Cilla Black and other notable 60's figures appeared dotted throughout. It's clear that Habicht was a real part of this scene and had access to the real swinging London.

The back cover features the Biba-esque design that was used by the International Times counter-culture newspaper as their logo.

Great reference for sixties mod, flower power and alternative culture fashion.

This is the most visceral document we have seen on 1960's swinging London, you feel like you are right there with them!

96 pages with 91 photographs.

London : George G. Harrap & Co. Ltd., 1969. First (and only!) edition. Large quarto (310 x 255 mm)

Condition is very good with some wear to the cover.  The dust jacket has some wear and you can see in the final image the full jacket opened out on the book with signs of wear and small parts of the jacket missing in the spine area. The 'tears' on the cover are actually enclosed and sit flat as they have been previously repaired with sellotape (see photos).  The linen hardbacked book underneath however is very good, the bottom of the spine has small repaired tear 1cm tall.  Once you get inside the book the pages are excellent and the printing is superb, nice rich blacks that reproduce the photography very well. The photograph you see is the actual copy you will receive.
