A beautiful turban themed cover of British Vogue magazine by Anton Bruchl - dated February 1940. No photoshop, all created in camera.
There is a fantastic double page feature on Vivien Leigh who has found great success with Gone with The Wind, showing her early images from Vogue 1935-36. Full page portrait by Charles E. Kerlee.
2 pages on Tea! With more recipes later on. This is a wonderful feature about drinking tea in the blitz blackout. Portraits by John Rawlings.
2 page feature on South Africa by Edward Wolfe.
Jean Sibelius 2 page feature with photographs.
A rare two page Walt Disney feature on Pinocchio with illustrations behind the scenes, some in colour.
Amazing article 'War News from a French Town' by Mrs Lee Erickson with a very unusual colour illustration by Carl Erickson dated 1939 showing a Paris street scene - Erickson is known for his fashion illustrations.
We love the air balloons make do and mend defences! They were so iconic over Britain at this time for anti aircraft defenses, Vogue has a feature on 'Facts about Fabric' with each fabric illustrated as an air balloon, so good, See the cropped double page.
And finally the back cover has a very rare and unusual Trude Ettinger or 'ETT' illustration for Boots. It's a glamorous wartime cosmetics ad. See cropped B+W image.
76 pages. The Pattern Book is not inside, it was a separate magazine.
Very good condition. The cover has some wear but the full magazine is in great condition. The photographs show the actual magazine you will receive; we don't use stock images.
Very scarce issue.
