The Beatles Get Back, a rare first edition published by Apple Publishing in London, 1969 and released in 1970

This was never for sale, it came in a deluxe edition of the vinyl album in 1970.

Photographs by Ethan A. Russell, the only photographer to shoot album covers for The Beatles, The Stones & The Who. Text by Jonathan Cott and David Dalton.

This music biography is the sought after FIRST - and only - EDITION. It was released in May 1970 and deleted in December of 1970.

Is this the best ever photography book on the Beatles? The access is amazing.

Its mentioned in the Peter Jackson GET BACK documentaries on Disney when someone is talking about the edit of the book.
We have seen those amazing  films now and can report that the book chronicles it all from Twickenham to Apple Studios, up the the roof and then back downstairs for the final recording session.

Packed with rare unseen photos of the band, along with interviews and behind the scenes images. Also includes many images from the famous rooftop gig.

Octavo (26 x 20cm). 160 unpaginated pages.

Illustrated with colour photographs throughout.  Super seventies fashion and hair references!

Publisher's glossy black softcovers with white titles to spine and colour photographs to upper.  Blank rear sleeve.

A companion book issued with the earliest UK and Canadian copies of the "Let It Be" LP in a deluxe box set (1970).

The 1969 book bears the original album title 'Get Back'. There was only one printing of the book which was not to be sold separately by record retailers.

Rather scarce. Not to be confused with similar facsimile edition produced for an Italian CD box set made in the 1990s.

Genre - Illustrated & Plate Books, Rock, Pop & Vinyl, Pop Culture, 70s music and seventies fashion references.

When digging a little further we found out that although the book is credited as 1969 is was released in May 1970 within the limited edition box set of Let it Be.
That box set was then deleted in December 1970 to be replaced by the normal LP edition of the record.
So it was only every available for 6 months in 1970 and then officially deleted from distribution.

Published by George Harrison's publishing company Harrisongs.
