Winston Churchill Cover WWII The Blitz The Tatler Magazine May 1943
This is an extremely rare issue because of the war effort that was recycling paper with a stunning profile painting of Winston Churchill on the cover. Painted by Mr Alfred Edgeton Cooper and on display at The RA Royal Academy Show in 1943
The Tatler had a wraparound of advertising at this time (see the other image) so this cover will not have been seen widely.
We only know of two other magazines that were published during the war, British Vogue and The British Journal of Photography. It is well documented that paper was recycled for the war effort so all magazines originating from England during WWII are extremely rare.
