Next up is the most amazing and rare 1970s maxi skirt from Stirling Cooper. Stirling Cooper was a London-based fashion wholesaler and retailer that, along with brands such as Biba, Quorum, Browns and Clobber, helped to redefine UK fashion in the late 1960s. Part of the Swinging London scene in the early years, and with a destination store on Wigmore Street (opening in 1969) that attracted rock stars such as Mick Jagger, it grew into a substantial wholesaler and retailer and was even more influential in the 1970s, when UK-wide concessions created accessible and affordable high fashion.
This high waisted skirt is really unusual and totally flattering. The bias cut skirt is made from asymmetric contrasting panels which run diagonally across the whole skirt. One fabric has a herringbone patterned the other has a chunky very 70’s square design with purple and orange highlights. Unusually, but very cleverly done, the side zip follows the curved pattern, ensuring a snug fit on the hips. The bottom of each section is rounded giving the skirt a scolloped edge.
To make this dress more perfect, it also has 2 deep and slouchy patch pockets on the sides!

The label reads size 1 but please check the measurements.
This skirt is in good wearable condition. There is a small hole 18 inches down from the waist and some small marks in the back centre of the skirt, but due to the pattern of the skirt, these are barely noticeable. Please inspect photos as these form part of the description.
