ROBERT MAPPLETHORPE Francois Berthoud DAVID BOWIE Vanity Illustration Magazine
Vanity is an amazing magazine that only ran for 37 issues. It was created by Anna Piaggi.
This issue features two musical editorials as David Bailey shoots portraits at Live Aid including portraits of David Bowie, Bryan Ferry and Bob Geldof.
In another editorial a two page feature on Talking Heads has a very rare Robert Mapplethorpe image that we have never seen before.
An art deco influenced cover by fashion illustrator Lorenzo Mattotti is accompanied by some absolutely stunning fashion illustration inside as Mattotti creates 14 pages of illustrations across 2 editorials
Also featured
4 pages of beautiful illustrations by François Berthoud across 2 editorials
There is a great 2 page editorial full of photographs of half naked wrestling men with lots of oil and leather in the hot sun in Primavere with photographs by Jimmy Fox
8 page editorial that features men in uniform The British Royal Marines from HMS Raleigh in action, very Weber shot by Nick Scott
Fantastic 4 page dominatrix S&M feature illustrated by Francois Berthoud
Condition is good. The cover has some light wear and there is a price sticker visible (that could be removed), the magazine is around 30 years old and the photographs you see are from the actual issue. The binding is still tight.
