Our Covid Virus Plan -
We are still trading. We are still posting sales. The post office has advised, as an essential service, that it will remain open. There are also extra cargo planes to keep up with demand, and couriers such as FedEx and DHL have increased capacity.
We have lots of packaging in stock, we started self isolating in early March and we have a new, very stringent cleaning routine in place. We have thousands of magazines close to us in our archive and office and we also have many more in boxes in storage. Any stock we retrieve is being handled with gloves. All of our stock is already sealed, as all our vintage magazines are stored in individual archive sleeves, in acid-free boxes, and in climate-controlled art storage.
The world has changed and it will continue to change in profound ways that we cannot fully imagine. We have no other income and we really appreciate any sales we make that at this time. As we start this long path of isolation and spend more time cut off we are, in a small way, a little excited about the idea of being able to provide reading material and rare magazines for people all over the world. The great Rene Gruau illustrates a full fashion editorial with gorgeous B+W pencil drawings. We have seen a lot of Gruau's work and these are unusual for him, they are gorgeous light and free. 6 pages with a wonderful colour intro page.
Also inside is an extraordinary editorial by illustrator Tod Draz. Also very rare, it is in a gorgeous range of reds and yellows with a couple of photographic portraits by Henry Clarke augmenting the stories. 6 pages of Draz.
Gruau also illustrates a cheeky full page Christian Dior ad for lingerie (slight crease see photo).
This issue also includes a classic and beautiful half page reproduction of an Irving Penn portrait of his wife Lisa Fonssagrives:
'Woman In Palace' (Marrakech, Morocco, Lisa Fonssagrives-Penn).
William Klein shoots a great B+W fashion editorial too.
Very good condition. The cover has some damage with a strong crease though it and the spine has some wear and was glued to repair and strengthen the whole magazine. The internal pages are excellent and the magazine is robust now that the spine has been repaired. There is also an old price import stamp on the cover, it was sold in the UK. You will receive the full Paris Vogue magazine. The photographs are from the actual magazine. Priced to reflect condition, this is a very rare and sought after fashion illustrations by two giants of the art.
