Rare and iconic French Paris Vogue edition of Vogue magazine..!

This March 1979 COLLECTIONS issue of Paris Vogue contains some legendary fashion images.
The issue is titled 'The Collections by Cecil Beaton' who contributes A LOT - but the Helmut Newton shoot with Gia became one of the most influential of all time.
And Guy Bourdin.... who shoots another classic ad for Charles Jourdin shoes with a B+W John Travolta poster in the colourful image that is also one of the most known Bourdin photos of all time.
The issue was edited by Francine Crescent who encouraged Newton to shoot his androgyny fashion story in the high glamour surrounds of The George V Hotel in Paris.
THE image is Robin Osler, dressed as a man in a tuxedo, leaning over the lesbian 19 year old Gia Carangi, and lighting her cigarette with his/her own. It's a simple work of genius.
The shoot is all in B+W, 7 pages of classic Newton noir.
Beaton's extensive 47 page Collections special is populated with supermodels and celebrities of the day including Princess Caroline of Monaco, Palermo Picasso, Ines de la Fressange, Jane Birkin and the divine Dayle Haddon.
Sarah Moon shoots a 7 page B+W story.
Pierre Cardin goes to China with Magnum photographer Marc Riboud 4 pages.

Before the ubiquity of lookbooks int he 1980's-2000's Paris Vogue in the 1970's contained multi page ads by the biggest brands producing multi page lookbooks. They were often shot by the best photographers with the best models.
