Queen magazine is one of the great 1960’s magazines from a golden age in magazine design.  


Cover portrait by John Hedgecoe. 9th October 1968, a fortnightly issue.


Marisa Berenson models in a 7 page ad campaign for designers such as Frank Usher, Gor-Ray and others using wool.  Promo advertorial for the Wool Board - very rare feature, and early modeling by Marisa.  All full page, full colour and full bleed, shot in the countryside in Wales.  Marisa appears at least twice; there are other female and male models.


2 pages of brilliant rare unseen Ralph Steadman collages to illustrate a political article about the new buildings and alterations of skylines.  Steadman caracatures in collage: George Brown, Charles de Gaulle David Frost, Nubar Gulbenkian, Edward Heath, Malcolm Muggeridge, Richard Nixon, Edna O’Brien, Enoch Powell and Harold Wilson 


A wonderful 4 page editorial visiting Italian Pre- Palladian Villas with beautiful rustic, evocative interiors colour photography by John Vaughan - inc La Villa Dei Vescovi.


4 pages of amazing illustrations of ‘five fun cars’ by artist Graham Percy in an article by David Owen featuring a Bugatti 101C, Excalibur SSK, Alfa Romeo Gransport Zagato 1750 (driven by Tintin and Captain Haddock!!) and a Cord 810

2 pages of men’s tweed suits made by Kilgour, French & Stanbury of Savile Row, photographed by Bill King. Designs by Mr Fish, Turnbull & Asser also featured.  The model is Kaffe Fassett. 


2 page editorial featuring Mrs Margery Fish’s fifteenth century manor with photographs from Country Life

Michel Molinare shoots a men’s fashion feature. The model is accessorised with furniture by Robin Cruickshank, 4 pages shot in the showroom.


Formally The Queen, when Jocelyn Stevens took over and shortened the name to Queen it signalled a new direction as Queen became a classic for almost a decade until it merged with Harpers & Queen.
