Rare L'Officiel magazine with stunning illustrated cover by legendary Italian-French haute couture fashion illustrator Rene Gruau. 

Known as 'the bible of high fashion', L'Officiel was first published in 1921, the same year as Vogue, and within a short time helped to launch the careers of Balmain, Balenciaga, Dior, St Laurent and other notable designers. 

This issue contains additional internal illustrations by Rene Gruau and F. Taillefer,  as well as editorials featuring designs by Dior, Lanvin, Pierre Cardin, Nina Ricci, Guegan, and others. Also contains two page article on French comedian and actor Raymond Devos. 

A gorgeous issue of the original French fashion magazine.

Excellent condition for a magazine of this age. Light marks on covers and some minor damage to spine which has been repaired in the past.
