Rare L'Officiel magazine with stunning illustrated cover by legendary Italian-French haute couture fashion illustrator Rene Gruau. 

Known as 'the bible of high fashion', L'Officiel was first published in 1921, the same year as Vogue, and within a short time helped to launch the careers of Balmain, Balenciaga, Dior, St Laurent and other notable designers. 

This issue contains additional lavish internal illustrations by Rene Gruau, Pierre Mourgue and Jean Cocteau, as well as editorials featuring designs by Balenciaga, Balmain, Lanvin, Pottier, Paquin, Marcel Rochas, Robert Piguet, Jacques Fath, Jacques Griffe and others. Also contains two page article on French artists and fashion designers in New York. 

A really beautifully crafted issue from the original French fashion magazine.

Excellent condition for a magazine of this age. Light marks on covers and some minor damage to spine which has been repaired in the past.
