Very rare and historically important issue of British Vogue, published during the Second World War and dated April 1945.
Lee Miller captures images of soldiers and those affected by the Alsace Campaign war front. 4 pages of astonishing photographs of a bombed STRASBOURG Cathedral, nuns and Red Cross nurses searching for survivors, armies on the march, and GENERAL SCHLESSER relaxing during a break in the fighting.
'Prevailing China' is an illustrated feature by Cecil Beaton including colour and black and white, they are just beautiful! Includes portraits of Chinese politicians and SUN YAT SEN.
Fashion photography by Cecil Beaton with exquisite colour fashion photographs.
Norman Parkinson, John Rawlings and Roland Haupt fashion photography.
There is a great 8 page fashion editorial using London actresses, 6 pages by Cecil Beaton and 2 by Norman Parkinson:
Helen Cherry
Natasha Sokolova
Joyce Redman
Isabel Dean
Dulcie Gray
...are all featured; one full page per portrait.
Vogue Pattern book is sewn inside with beautiful images by Joffe. Several pages of photos and sketches.
Fashion illustrations by Bernard Blossac.
LONDON FASHIONS report.
MADAME MASSIGLI and Madame Ruegger have their portraits taken by Beaton, one full page each.
Peggy Ashcroft, RACHEL KEMPSON, Herminone Gingold and David Rawnsley are all photographed for the Vogue Spotlight feature by Beaton and Haupt.
ROGER DESCOMBES
And a cringe-worthy feature titled 'LOOT FROM THE WAR FRONT'. No words.
The back cover is an advert for Lotus shoes with a twist; waiting for a world at peace and offering cupids and shoes in compensation!
Shipping includes insurance & online tracking. We are also happy to combine post.
The condition is superb for a magazine of this vintage.

During World War II British Vogue was kept in print as a part of the war effort. One of its influences was to encourage people to recycle and contribute paper to the war effort.
They sent their archives to be pulped and had features on taking part in the war effort. As a result any British Vogue pre 1945 are some of the rarest magazines on the planet.
