During World War II British Vogue, unlike 99% of magazines, was kept in print, for the war effort. One of its influences was to encourage people to recycle and contribute paper to the war effort.
They sent their archives to be pulped and had features on contributing to war effort. As a result any British Vogue pre-1945 are some of the rarest magazines on the planet.
