Super rare Lee Miller cover of British Sunday Times magazine only in print for one day.
She began as a muse for Man Ray, a fashion model and went on to be a photographer for Vogue.
That's three careers already in her first decade of work and we haven't mentioned the artists she used to hang out with in the 1930's, Picasso Miro, The Surrealists etc
During WWII she became an unsurpassed correspondent for British Vogue fearlessly writing stories and taking photographs on the front line often being first into the combat zone with the troops.
We have those Vogues within our archive and they are some of the most important reporting by any journalist at any time. We could go on and there was a lot more... did we mention the selfie she took in Hitler's bath in Munich? It's reproduced in this magazine.
This very rare Sunday Times feature is a great opportunity to own a selection of her work and read more about her career as a surrealist and one of the great photographers of the 20th Century. Published in advance of a National Portrait Gallery exhibition of her portraits. 10 pages + Cover.
Also inside...
Barbara Hulanicki and her son Witold in a Yoga feature, 1 page with portraits.
The Vatican - it's weird. 8 pages looking at the murky history of The Vatican in the wake of The Davinci Code.
Deafness 6 page story.
David Manning British Ambassador to US.
This is a rare edition of the Sunday Times magazine, a Newspaper supplement to The Sunday Times newspaper, only ever on sale for one day.
Excellent condition. All pages tight and attached to spine. The photographs you see is of the actual magazine.
Published several years ago, long out of print back-issue.
Lee Miller was a legend and an absolute ICON of art, photography, writing and modelling. Even though there are several books and an upcoming Hollywood film with Kate Winslet playing her part she is still massively under appreciated.
One film does not tell Lee Miller's story, its Epic:
