This issue contains the iconic Strictly 10 page men's fashion editorial styled by Simon Foxton, cast and modeled by Edward Enninful (more recently editor of British Vogue) and photographed by Jason Evans (credited as Travis). Craig McDean receives a 'Thanks' in the credits...
Modeled by young black men, some from Edward's family, styled in 'trad' English dandyism and standing stoically in Ealing; west London suburbia.
This series became the first fashion imagery procured by the Tate Museum, and in 2024 these prints were viewable in The 80s: Photographing Britain exhibition.
Dubbed “Black Aristocracy” by Enninful, the story captured a new approach to Black British style and black excellence in the UK.
