This issue contains the hugely famous 'Small trades' portfolio of tradesmen, photographed by Irving Penn.
Wonderful and rare portraits of EDWARD BAWDEN and ROWLAND EMETT who are photographed with examples of their work by NORMAN PARKINSON. Part of a feature written by SIRIOL HUGH-JONES which also includes Lowry art work.
Photography by Cecil Beaton, Norman Parkinson (who photographs his model wife Wenda for one story, including the iconic umbrella shot) and Irving Penn.
Illustrators include the painter John Ward, Edward Ardizzone and Anthony Gross.
