IAN DURY Rupert Brooke ROGER LAW Duncan Edwards JIM REEVES Sunday Times magazine
Ian Dury draws pop art portraits of Carole Lombard, Dylan Thomas, Billie Holiday, Glenn Miller & Mike Hawthorn. All of these paintings by Dury and are used to illustrate biographies of these artists.
The Lombard painting is spread across two pages, all the portraits are on the same spread. There's also writing by Colin MacInnes as part of this feature, a collage of Ropert Capa photos, and Roger Law creates a model/painting of the artist John Minton (full page feature).
The magazine also has several pages of other illustrations including several by Roger Law, Michael Foreman, Brian Love and Richard Weigrand (who creates Buddy Holly and Jackson Pollock artworks). It's a great story with other subjects including Malcolm X, Jim Reeves and Charlie Parker.
These stunning Pop Art paintings by Ian Dury etc are very rare!
