George Harrison appears in a feature 'On the Liverpool Shore' looking at the cities musical and arts success in the wake of The Beatles & Gerry and The Pacemakers. We believe we have found an extremely rare George Harrison photograph as he re-strings his Gretch guitar in the dressing room! The full page photograph shows George re-stringing his guitar backstage at the Liverpool Empire, photographed a year or two before the Beatles became huge. We have never seen this image before anywhere!
TOWN sends Jazz singer George Melly up to report on the scene.
Also in the feature - The Panthers a group with four electric guitars at The Cavern. Painter Adrian Henry with some of his pop art, Sculptors Christopher Dawson and Arthur Dooley. Its a great 6 page article, no photo credits so we believe they might be by Melly himself.

Town was in print as MAN ABOUT TOWN for many years and was redesigned in the 1960's by Tom Woseley who began to hire some of the best photographers and writers and it soon became a classic when it because ABOUT TOWN and finally just TOWN.
