An extremely rare and early Vogue Beauty Book magazine from Spring 1950.
This is one of THE most iconic magazine covers of all time - shot by Erwin Blumenfeld.
'Doe Eye' remains one of the high watermarks of photography and design and this is a first edition print run of the image.
It was originally printed a few weeks earlier on the cover of American Vogue in January and this followed soon after in Britain.
This British Vogue print run would have been far smaller than the main issue of British and certainly American Vogue.
It could be argued that this British cover is more aesthetically pleasing as fewer tag-lines have been printed on the cover compared to the US version. It would look incredible framed.
Vogues Beauty Book magazine sold was separately to the British edition of Vogue.
The iconic model was Jean Pratchett photographed by Blumenfeld.
78 pages of 50s Vogue Beauty tips.
There are also more beautiful illustration and fashion photography by Lee Miller inside, see photographs
The ads in these beauty books from this period are wonderful illustrated beautiful pages. The fashion illustrations are exceptional.
The circulation must have been tiny as this issue is so impossibly hard to find.
