Raygun was an American alternative rock music and style magazine, first published in 1992 in Santa Monica, California.

Named for Bowie’s Moonage Daydream, Naked Ray Gun (band) and Claes Oldenberg’s seminal ray gun motif this is a must for 90s music and design aficionados.

Inside this 1993 issue at the moment grunge enters the mainstream, in an interview by Evan Dando with Dinosaur Jr’s J Mascis, Mascis decries ‘lazy and boring’ media. Art director and father of Grunge design and typography David Carson’s response was to set his cover shot (by Thomas Sherlitz) upside-down.

Inside is an interview with The Shamen with photography by Steve Stickler, portrait photographs by Michael Stipe, music reviews Phil Spector, Nirvana, Rage Against the Machine as well as Screaming Trees, Flaming Lips, Shabba Ranks and The Orb.
