Egoiste (Selfish) is a large-format French-language magazine founded in 1977. It features gorgeous black and white photography and contributions from leading writers.
This very rare issue features a stunning 50 page 'neo-realist' photo-story shot by Richard Avedon starring Kate Dillon and styled by Jean-Paul Scarpitta.
The cover features cult French actor Gerard Depardieu shot by Richard Avedon. Depardieu is interviewed inside by the inimitable Françoise Sagan.
Other interviews in this great issue include Arundhati Roy, John Galliano, Francois Pinault, Wei Jingsheng, with portraits by Richard Avedon.
The issue also includes a gorgeous 8 page fashion feature 'Paradise Lost' shot by Richard Avedon with models including Malgosia Bela wearing the best of Dior Couture, Comme des Garçons, Tom Binns, Yohji Yamamoto, and Jean-Paul Gautier.
Egoïste also include specially commissioned advertisements, each double page ad was unique and only published in this issue. Founded in 1977 by Nicole Wisniak, Egoïste is an iconic large-format occasional French fashion and culture magazine showcasing the best in international photography and writing. Wisniak funded the magazine through specially produced, single-use adverts for all the major fashion houses shot by the best photographers including Richard Avedon, Helmut Newton, Bettina Rheims, Guy Bourdin, Paolo Roversi.
The back cover is a rare Calvin Klein advert, also shot exclusively for this magazine.
