Town magazine is one of the great 1960’s magazines from a golden age in magazine design. Formally Man About Town, the title was revived a few years ago.
This issue of Town looks at Great Britain with a political angle in the shadow of Harold MacMillan in the 1960’s.
There is a long 24 page editorial called : 1957- 1963 Politics and society in the Age of MacMillan’ full of great photography by Shaun Woodnutt and very rare images by fashion photographer Brian Duffy showing a youthful young married couple & the new commuters. Also several pages of rioting and protest by Kerry Dundas “The Dissenters”, are included.
Also shown is the CND anti Nuclear March from Aldermaston illustrated with an extremely rare photograph at Trafalger Square showing Bertrand Russell from the stage.
Town celebrates the 20 year old, blonde, convent educated Jean Shrimpton as the new super model of the day with a photograph by David Bailey in a 2 page feature.
