Rare issue of British fashion magazine The Queen. Originally a society magazine, when this title began publication in the late 1800's, it was reinvented in the 1960's and this is one of our most sought after issues.
The iconic cover design was created by the art director, Mark Boxer - What's so great about the British? There are cartoons drawn by Boxer inside as well, 3 pages, under his signature 'Marc'.
Toni Frissell photographs Prince Philip and others as part of a 6 page feature.
This issue includes work by:
- Roger Mayne
- Colin MacInnes
- Norman Parkinson (see photos - we think the model is Bond girl Tania Mallett)
- John Bulmer
- John Hedgecoe
- Brian Seed
- Stephen Green-Armytage
8 page story all drawn by BOB GILL.
Illustrations by JOHN GLASHAN
CECIL BEATON and JOHN HEDGECOE take portraits of LORD BIRKENHEAD, LORD HAMBLEDEN, MICHAEL DUFF etc, 2 or 3 pages.
