This issue of The Sunday Times Magazine has an American USA photography theme and includes two icons of photography:
Robert Mapplethorpe and Annie Leibovitz, both of whom are featured and interviewed inside.
Robert Mapplethorpe is interviewed over three pages with a selection of his photographs reproduced. The interview takes place at his studio in New York in advance of the retrospective show of his work opening at the ICA in London.
There are 7 pages devoted to Annie Leibovitz who is famous for her celebrity photography for Vanity Fair and previously for Rolling Stone magazine in the 1970's
Her most famous image is the incredible portrait of John Lennon and Yoko Ono taken at the Dakota building in NYC hours before Lennon was murdered. The portrait is a master piece in its own right, the vulnerable Lennon cradles Ono as they both lay on the floor. It's history makes it one of the most iconic portraits of all time. The magazine reproduces the image on a full page that would be exactly as it appeared on the cover of Rolling Stone. In a fantastic interview Leibovitz tells the full story of how it came about.

This is a rare 1980's issue of The Sunday Times newspaper supplement, only ever on sale for one day. A very scarce issue indeed! It is a large issue running to 136 pages.
Condition is very good. The photographs you see are from the actual copy you will receive. The front cover and first page inside have small tears at the staples not uncommon in a magazine of this age and weight, the paper is very light and fragile. Priced according to condition.
