Cover and feature on the work of Brazilian photographer Alair Gomes, 1921 - 1992. 

An art university professor, Gomes didn’t start photography until his 50s, when he began capturing young men on the Rio de Janeiro beaches.  Taken in secret from the 70s, on the beach or his apartment window in Ipanema, his black and white photographs show glowing subjects unaware of the camera.
