A very special historical issue - This is the first edition that launched new the then new designer; Christian Dior. "Dior is the new name in Paris. With his first collection he not only shot to fame, but revived the general situation by reviving interest in a somewhat uninspired season…His house was newly decorated, his ideas were fresh and put over with great authority, his clothes were beautifully made, essentially Parisian, deeply feminine." (Vogue, April 1947).
Mr Dior has his portrait taken for this issue by fashion photographer Claude Coffin. This special Dior feature also shows his designs as part of a special on the Paris Collections, as well as detailed close-up photographs of his dresses and designs. There are illustrations by Christian Berard as well for this article, including the iconic Bar Suit.
