Donyale Luna appears on the cover of of this issue of Elle published in France, making her the first black model that French Elle put on their cover. History in the making! This was shortly after Donyale became the first Black model on the cover of British Vogue (indeed, the very first time that a black model appeared on ANY edition of Vogue). Pioneering Luna appears alongside another 1960's supermodel; Jill Kennington, for the cover plus they both model in a brilliant fashion spread inside as they frolic on the beach for Ronald Traeger's lens.
