CELIA HAMMOND Norman Parkinson CHIC CHICKS QUEEN MAGAZINE January 1962

£225.00

Default Title

A rare copy of the super collectable 60s women's magazine Queen featuring Celia Hammond shot by the legendary Norman Parkinson.

Celia was a favourite model of Parkinson's with Queen magazine being her first modelling contract. This issue features a fantastic black and white 'Chic Chicks' fashion shoot by Parkinson with Hammond wearing designs by Otto Lucas, Susan Small, Frank Usher, Frederica and others.

As with all issues of Queen, this issue includes the usual digest of UK and international culture, film, music, theatre and high society gossip including quirky and irreverent articles

Originally a society magazine in the early 50s, editor Jocelyn Steven bought the magazine in 1958 and shifted the format, content and readership to turn Queen into one of the most iconic publications of its time. Working with Beatrix Miller, Norman Parkinson and later Helmut Newton, Queen became a definitive bible for all things 60s.

This issue is especially rare as it features the large 'Q' masthead which only appeared on the cover of Queen during 1962.
