This extremely rare issue of 'Queen' (a pioneering fashion and society magazine) features a now classic cover with a model wearing a gorgeous post-box red Courreges trouser suit and photographed by the inimitable Helmut Newton.

Plus there's the most incredible 14 page fashion Courreges editorial with the same model and shot by Newton..!

More Paris fashion, including ethereal Courreges designs inside.

This is the infamous issue that saw Helmut Newton being fired from French Vogue.  He gave this Courreges story to Queen, and the editor at Paris Vogue, where Newton had been submitting work, was angered at this exclusive Courrège preview going to the British magazine Queen.  As a consequence, Newton's work appears prolifically in Queen magazine for the next two to three years. When the EIC at Vogue France changed a few years later, Newton was re-hired.

Queen declared this collection "...by far the most exciting (collection) this autumn"! Of course these revolutionary Courreges designs are now iconic.

Also inside this very special issue -

Fashion spread shot by TERENCE DONOVAN, focusing on skirts.

CELIA HAMMOND models designs by Pierre Cardin and Windsmoor etc for a 5 page Terylene advertorial campagain.

KINGSLEY AMIS

Poet RUTH FAINLIGHT writes about the The Enemy Poster and how modern advertising portrays women.

Originally a society magazine in the early 50s, editor Jocelyn Steven bought the magazine in 1958 and shifted the format, content and readership to turn Queen into one of the most iconic publications of its time. Working with Beatrix Miller, Norman Parkinson and later Helmut Newton, Queen became a definitive bible for all things 60s.

As with all issues of Queen, this issue includes the usual digest of UK and international culture, film, music, theatre and high society gossip. An absolutely must have issue for 60s fashion and culture fans!

Excellent condition for a magazine of this age, just some very light creases to the top and bottom right corners of the cover page only (see images).
