Room & Book Art Book Fair 2015

We’re thrilled to announce that we’ll be back at the Room&Book: ICA Art Book Fair this year. Curated by Claire De Rouen Books and now in its second year, it is a round up of some of the best independent book dealers from all over the world. And we are thrilled to say we are the only vintage magazine specialists attending. Last year’s was overwhelming, the quality of the exhibitors made it very difficult for us to concentrate on our own stall! There were also some superb talks and signings - plus everyone brought their best paper gold - so if you didn’t make it last time, it really is worth the effort. We will be there in person for the whole weekend, it would be lovely to see you there.

Here are a couple of titles we'll be taking to the fair to whet your appetite...

Slash (1977-1980)

This fanzine is the epitome of punk - not just any punk though...it’s L.A. underground punk.  The great thing about Slash was that the creators Steve Samiof and Melanie Nissen were open to feature other music genres and bands outside of L.A. making it even more interesting. This is Issue 3, Vol. 1 featuring Johnny Rotten from the Sex Pistols on the cover. It was published in July 1977. From Slash magazine came the punk record label of the same name (you may recognise the logo). If you like this, you’ll almost definitely love one of the other fanzines we’re taking called Penetration.

Paris Vogue Beauté

We recently discovered that this Vogue Beauty Special magazine has some incredible images by some of the biggest fashion photographers, ever! It’s difficult to come by and hasn’t really been championed as a go to publication for inspiration. But it has a lot of work we’ve not seen published anywhere else. This is an example from a batch we bought recently - fresh from Paris! This cover reminds us of Tom Ford in the 1990s, no?! Most of the content was exclusively shot by photographers including; Guy Bourdin, Bob Richardson and Helmut Newton.
