Juergen Teller: WOO!Posted January 22 2013
Here at Elegantly Papered, it would be fair to say that we are slightly obsessed with Juergen Teller's work. Therefore, when we found out that there would be a free exhibition of his work opening at the ICA in our native London, the excitement was palpable!
The exhibition, entitled 'Woo!', will chart his career from the early days of taking photos of musicians for album artwork to the present day. Currently, Teller is perhaps best known for the star studded cast of individuals who he chooses to photograph: Kate Moss, Vivienne Westwood and Tom Cruise are three names in an endless list of high profile people who Teller has shot, often in state of complete undress. He has also had a great deal of success in the commercial field, shooting campaigns for brands such as Marc Jacobs and Celine.
In preparation for the exhibition, we thought it would be nice to share some images of Teller's rarer work that we have come across in the archive. Below are some images from French fashion publication, Double magazine, who commissioned Teller to put together a photostory entitled 'Ten Days in Havana.' The set of images works beautifully within the landscape format of the publication, demonstrating Teller's eye for detail and skill for elevating the status of seemingly mundane objects.
'Juergen Teller: Woo!' runs at the Institute of Contemporary Arts in London from 23 January 2013 - 17 March 2013.
